Micro Cut Shredder: How to Choose One for You

Micro cut shredders come in different sizes and features, with price tags varying accordingly. Besides size, these shredders are also classified on the basis of the shape of shreds they produce as well as the randomness with which they cut the papers. Some of these are –

  • Strip cut shredders that use rotating knives to cut paper into long, narrow strips. This type of shredder is least secure as the strips are least randomized and can be reassembled though with great difficulty. They also produce the highest volume of waste.
  • Cross cut or confetti shredders use two contrarily rotating drums to cut shreds of various shapes – rectangular, parallelogram or lozenge shaped.
  • Particle cut shredders produce tiny circular or square pieces
  • Disintegrators or granulators cut the paper repeatedly at random until the pieces are small enough to pass through a mesh
  • Hammermills pound papers through a screen
  • Grinders grind the papers with a rotating shaft with cutting edges, until they are small enough to fall through a screen.
  • Piece and tear shredders and cardboard shredders are other types of micro cut shredders. Continue reading ‘Micro Cut Shredder: How to Choose One for You’
